Laundry Room Painting Tricks To Know In Anchorage, AK
When your laundry room is starting to look a bit… shall we say worn, one thing that you are going to be able to do in order to spruce it up a bit is to paint it — but painting can be quite a complicated and tricky process, especially if you are just starting out on it.
However, what you may not realize is that there are certain key things that you can learn about to make the whole process better and in some cases, bring down your overall cost — and maybe make it just a little bit less messy as well!
With that being the case, let's have a good look at some laundry room painting tricks to know for when you want a nicely painted laundry room.
1. Move The Machines
One thing that you're going to want to think about doing when you're looking to paint your laundry room is to move the machines that are almost certainly in the room and that make up the meaning of the room.
These machines, while helping you clean your clothing and the like also tend to stand in the way of you getting to the walls that are going to be painted — and you certainly aren't going to want to get paint on them while you are painting.
What you may want to do is to move them away from the walls and then cover them (the washing machine and the dryer) and then do your best to cover them with a tarp so that you don't get paint on them.
2. Cover The Floor
Speaking of covering things, you. will want to think about the floor in your laundry room — and while you can just leave it uncovered and let the paint that you apply to the walls drip freely and make for some interesting abstract art it is likely better to cover the floors and prevent this.
There are a number of materials you can use to cover your floor and so long as it stays on the floor and does not allow paint to get through, you have succeeded in protecting it.
What you're going to want to do is to make sure the floor covering doesn't shift around on the floor as you go from one area to another so you don't inadvertently expose the floor and make for a possible mess.
3. Consider Color Carefully
There are a lot of colors that you can use for your laundry room — what, did you think that your only choice was going to be to paint your laundry room white?
Indeed, you are more than welcome to make use of quite a lot of other colors for your laundry room — so long as the color or colors that you choose bring you happiness in the room itself and you think that it looks good.
One of the best things that you can do in order to test this out is to simply get small samples of paint that you can apply to the walls and then see how the different colors look in a variety of lighting — one light on, two lights, etc.
4. Primer First
Lastly, you should remember that when you are applying paint to your laundry room walls you are going to end up with a better painted laundry room if you start by applying a coat of primer to the walls first.
The primer that you apply to the walls prior to the paint will help the paint go on more smoothly and it will also keep that very same paint there as primer tends to have adhesive qualities.
